This year’s nomination for the IAATI Insurance Investigator of the Year was submitted by Diego Rojas, nominating Deputy Commissioner Fernando Vásquez, Robbery Brigade of the Chilean Investigative Police.

Mr. Vasquez has managed to work collaboratively, in an unprecedented and innovative way, with the Prosecutor's Office, the Internal Revenue Service, and insurance companies and organized the recovery of 64 vehicles in a simultaneous operation in cities 2,500 kilometers away, with police units of almost the entire territory.

The investigation by Vásquez and his team revealed criminal activities with profits of 9 million USD and identified around 700 stolen and defrauded vehicles.

6 people were arrested, all of whom are in prison.

This collaborative work with insurance companies is unprecedented and allows us to continue developing new joint actions. It is a cultural change in the fight against vehicle theft and fraud. Our congratulations to Deputy Commissioner Fernando Vasquez.
