Kent Mawyer
I first met Kent, a long-term member, in 1995 during the
planning for the 1996 seminar. Kent was the Onsite Coordinator, and I 3rd VP. It was then that I became aware of Kent’s leadership, administrative, and finance talents. It was due to Kent’s efforts that the San Antonio seminar was not only memorable, but well attended, and financially successful.
It was not surprising that Kent was elected to the board, with his service culminating as President 2002-2003.
In the late 90’s, revenue from the APB and its relationship to IAATI’s tax exempt status became a topic of discussion. It was Kent that studied the issue and prepared a White Paper to enable informed discussion among board members.
As Chief of Criminal Law Enforcement of Texas DPS, Kent encouraged and facilitated maximum seminar attendance amount his investigators.
During the late teens and early twenties, IAATI experienced the unforeseen departure of two executive directors, creating administrative turmoil. Far into his retirement, and 15-+ years after his presidency, Kent answered the call when asked to serve as Executive Director.
Since November of ‘22, Kent has provided his abilities to IAATI. During this time, in addition to the normal duties of the ED, he was instrumental in reviewing vendors for the new website, and is continuously engaged in the five-year process to fulfill the contractual agreement presented by the vendor.
It was Kent who was responsible for populating and proving the transfer of members' information from the old database. In addition to the mastering the website, Kent has provided guidance to enable interaction between it and our new accounting program.
In my opinion, Kent has provided long and faithful service to IAATI, far above what is expected of a member. I nominate him to be considered as a recipient of the Raymond H. Dreher Memorial Award.
