Summary of Strike Force EMELLE
During the course of investigations conducted by Strike Force EMELLE which extended over a 16 month period, investigators uncovered, documented, captured and reviewed significant direct, indirect, forensic and electronic evidence relating to the theft and rebirthing of 49 luxury and 4WD motor vehicles and vessels. With 28 of these motor vehicles and 4 vessels being recovered and where possible returned to their rightful owners.
The combined value of recoverable assets seized by Strike Force Investigators exceeds 3.3 million dollars, with the rebirth vessels having a combined value in excess of $600,000. Investigators identified this clandestine, well organised and connected criminal syndicate which has been providing stolen and cloned luxury vehicles to organised crime groups for the use in the commission of further serious offences such as: homicide, armed robbery, drug supply and public place shootings.
Strike Force EMELLE has had a significant impact upon the theft and rebirthing of 4WD and luxury motor vehicles in the Sydney metropolitan area. By dismantling the entire criminal syndicate, Strike Force EMELLE has disrupted other criminal syndicate activities who have associated and relied upon the criminal activities and supply of stolen rebirthed motor vehicles of this syndicate.
So wide were the tendrils of this criminal syndicate, that because of the investigations conducted by the INvestigators of Strike Force EMELLE, a number of other suspected rebirthed motor vehicles, vessels and trailers have been identified, with links to a number of Persons of Interest which are currently under investigation
