Dear Members,

It is with great honour that I write to you as the newly elected president of IAATI. I want to sincerely thank you all for the confidence you have placed in me and our board. Your trust means a lot, and I pledge to serve with dedication and passion as we work together in our mission to fight vehicle related crimes.

I would like to extend a thank you to our immediate past president Nathan McGanty for his invaluable contributions and leadership. He has steered IAATI with commitment, and I know that he will still serve IAATI for many years to come. Nathan is our editor and heads all our media / social media committees – PLEASE let him know what is happening in your chapters and branches by submitting articles and news-related stories. Also, the IAATI Web and App is available for all our registered members – register and make contact with our membership from around the world.

A special thank you to the organizing committee for orchestrating a truly remarkable seminar in Orlando, Florida. The event's success is a testament to your hard work, and it was a shining example of what IAATI can achieve when we work together.

I would also like to take a moment to congratulate the newly elected board members. I look forward to work with all of you as we have a responsibility to continue the work that we do with all the committees. To our wider membership, I encourage you to get involve as your expertise and insights are vital to our success, and there is no better way to contribute to the cause than by engaging actively with the work we do.

For you who did not attend the Orlando seminar, Bob Haasbroek, who has served as the IAATI treasurer for an incredible 21 years will be handing over to Chris McDonald in this year. His dedication over the years have been nothing short of exemplary with the financial guidance that has helped shape the stability and growth of this organization, and for that, we are all grateful. Bob is a IAATI past president and has been a member for over 50 years.

Looking ahead, I am eager to set forth a few key goals for our organization in the coming year. First and foremost, we will continue to expand our global outreach, strengthening partnerships with law enforcement, industry leaders, and other stakeholders. We will also prioritize education and training, ensuring that our members have the tools and knowledge needed to tackle emerging threats in vehicle crime. Lastly, we will seek innovative ways to enhance our technological capabilities to stay ahead of evolving criminal tactics.

I would be remiss not to acknowledge my employer, Zonke-Unicode who has allowed me to continue my work with IAATI. Their support underscores the importance of the work we do here and the impact it has on our communities globally.

Finally, I want to remind everyone that while we may come from different cultures, backgrounds, and walks of life—whether men or women—we are united by a common purpose. Our strength lies in our diversity, and together, we can overcome any challenge. Let’s continue to stand as one, driving forward in our fight against vehicle crimes with determination and resolve.

Thank you again for your trust, and I look forward to working with each of you. Please feel free to make contact with me, even if it is just to introduce yourselves… 😊

Sincerely,

Daan Nel
